These guys have been talking about Auto-Pilot for a long time now. I haven't seen much activity regarding a beta release to the Drupal Community.

The presentation was given by Adam Kalsey, not Tom Friedhof (I think Adam's contact info is on one of the slides). I was very interested to hear that he was hoping that AutoPilot was ready for a public release on the night of the presentation (June 24) but a few bugs popped up at the last minute.
